City Farm
Here, planned and planted from the ground up, by a couple dedicated to the idea of developing sustainable environments, is a narrow little strip of agricultural wonder in the heart of the city. The owners are land-focused professionals—one a soil scientist, the other a professor of landscape architecture—who have created a dense and intricate expression of their attitudes and aspirations. Their use of this very small piece of inner-city land demonstrates great variety and plenitude, and serves as a play-yard and lab for their young son and everyone associated with them. Experiments in new directions coupled with time-honored techniques of organic farming generate an energy about the place that is both authentic and inspiring.
